Twentieth Anniversary Exhibition at Resipole Studios

An anniversary exhibition celebrating twenty years of Resipole Studios opened on Sunday, 30th June, and I was absolutely delighted to be invited to submit a painting to be exhibited alongside other gallery artists.

The XX exhibition set out to celebrate and acknowledge the significant influence that the west coast of Scotland has had on artists now and in the past and to honour the gallery’s role in bringing artists and their work together in this remote and scenic location.

Works on display included six exquisite paintings by renowned artist Jon Schueler who worked from his studio in Mallaig from 1957. The abstract expression artist created atmospheric paintings that conveyed the drama of the constantly changing weather he experienced while looking out from his studio across the Sound of Sleat. Check out the gallery website, and you will see the emotive Jon Scheuler paintings.

My seascape painting, which was part of the exhibition, is titled Iàn-mara, which is Gaelic for ‘gentle sea’; I was inspired by walking and exploring the wild and empty beaches of the west coast of Scotland.

Iàn-mara | Mixed media | 50 x 109.5 cm (framed) | Available from Resipole Studios

What a great time was had by all at the opening… we enjoyed live music and refreshments surrounded by amazing art and in the company of lovely people.

Thank you to @resipolestudios, Andrew and Kerrie for making it such a special occasion.
