Taking a closer look…

Sometimes, all I want to do is sketch, but I don’t often focus on what lies beneath the sea or along the shore. I was captivated by these tiny underwater worlds formed by the abrasion of joints, fractures, and rock surfaces exposed on the beach in front of the house. Shaped by the changing tides and the weather, they teemed with plants and animals that have adapted to living in this harsh environment.

These are experimental mixed media works, and perhaps I should consider creating a series of paintings inspired by rockpools.
